An Important Message About BBQs
It can’t have escaped your notice that for the past few weeks it has been especially hot.
Even with the showers we experienced a week or so ago, the ground at Stourton Estates is very dry. Unfortunately, because of this, we have had to take the decision to prohibit the use of BBQs at the festival this year.
We are in regular communication with the emergency services as part of our planning for JoeFest, and our friends at Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue inform us that they have experienced a significant number of field and grass fires this summer because of the conditions. With this being the case, they have advised us that a ban on the use of BBQs may be necessary. Therefore, at this particular moment in time we are unfortunately going to prohibit the use of BBQs at JoeFest.
Portable stoves will still be permitted, as long as they can be kept off the ground, and of course there will be a range of food vendors to keep us well-fed during the festival. Smoking is also permitted in outdoor areas of the festival; however, it is more important this year than ever before to please make use of the bins provided and to not discard your cigarette ends into the grass.
Obviously this is not a decision we were keen to have to make; however, as much as we all enjoy sitting around the fire we have to put your safety first.
Thanks very much for your understanding, and if you have any further questions please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
